Our split yellow peas is a lovely pea that is often used in any dahl dish from India. Split yellow peas are sweeter the split green peas. These peas are used in the famous Canadian soup dish as well as a famous Swedish soup. Split yellow peas are high in protein and fiber. These peas provide a great color to your dishes and can be substituted in any split green dish. So have yellow split pea soup for a change. Shelf Life: Should be stored in cool dark place, optimum condition is 60 degrees or less for longer storage. Storing properly in our enameled cans and Super pail buckets, product may store 25 years. Bulk products need to be repackaged for long term storage.
Directions: Rinse. For overnight soaking, cover each cup of peas with 3 cups water and let stand overnight or 12 hours. Rinse and cover with water. Bring to a boil and simmer about 1 hour. May use seasoned stock made from chicken, beef, ham or other meat. Chopped vegetables may be added if desired. Season as desired and serve.
